WOW Finishes 9th at 14 & Under Champs

 

Waves of Wilmington Places 9th at North Carolina Swimming's 14 & Under Championships


 

Waves Of Wilmington's 14 & Under Championship team placed 9that the annual state championships held this past weekend, July 16-19, in Cary, NC.


 

Fifteen WOW swimmers qualified to compete in the state's most prestigious event for 14 & Under swimmers.


 

WOW swimmers won 4 events over the weekend. Travis Johns took Gold in the 13-14 Men's 100 Meter Freestyle and 200 Meter Individual Medley. Ian McPheters won both the 9-10 Boy's 50 and 100 Meter Backstroke.


 

WOW captured the Silver medal in the 9-10 Boy's 50 and 100 Meter Backstroke(Jack Best), the 13-14 Boy's 50 and 200 Meter Freestyle(Travis Johns), 100 and 200 Meter Backstroke(Travis Johns), and 9-10 Boy's 100 Meter Freestyle(Ian McPheters).


 

Ian and Matt McPheters both took home Bronze Medals for their swims in the 9-10 Boy's 200 Meter Individual Medley(Ian) and 13-14 Boy's 200 Meter Backstroke(Matt).


 

WOW's 9-10 Boy's Relay team of Jack Best, Sean Brennan, Ian McPheters, and Anthony Messina took home the Silver medal in both the 200 Freestyle and Medley Relays.


 

WOW's 13-14 Boy's Relay team of Zach Hannum, Joseph High, Travis Johns, and Matt McPheters placed 4thin both the 400 Freestyle and Medley Relays.

 

Over the course of the championship weekend WOW swimmers placed in the Top 8 twenty three times, and swam 80 personal best times in 97 individual events.

Swimmers Jack Best, Travis Johns, and Abbey Narayan swam 100% times for the weekend.
