This past weekend WOW swimmers traveled to Greenville, NC for a
dual meet with the Greenville Swim Club. The two team meet,
dubbed the "Duel in the Pool"(with kudos to USA Swimming...)
was inteneded to provide an early season competetive evironment for
the swimmers of these two evenly matched teams. Those who
attended, got to see much more than that...
WOW swimmers swam nearly 90% best times for the weekend, won 66
individual events, and 15 relay events. The meet was also one
for the record books as the weekend saw a whopping 10 team records
broken. Travis Johns set new marks in the 13-14 Boy's 50
& 100yd Free, 100 & 200yd Back, 100yd Butterfly, and 200yd
IM. Matt McPheters lowered his own record in the 400yd IM,
and broke John Efird's more than 15 year old 200 fly record,
and Ian McPheters set new marks in the 9-10 Boy's 100yd Free,
and 100yd Butterfly.
The last time these two teams squared off was last spring's ECSL
Championship meet, a meet the Greenville Gators won by over 1,000
points. By the end of this weekend it was WOW who emerged on
top, winning the meet by over 250 points. Final score,
WOW 3,141. Greenville 2,884.
Congratulations to all the WOW swimmers who attended. Full
